Formats and limits
| Input | JSON, JSON Lines |
|---|---|
| Output | CSV |
| Limits | Up to 100 MB. |
| Engine | SheetJS Community Edition + Papa Parse; dot-path flattening for nested JSON |
Limitations
- Each JSON object becomes one row; deeply varied objects give many sparse columns.
- Invalid JSON stops the conversion with the line number of the error.
- Up to 100 MB per file.
Questions
How are nested objects converted?
Each nested value gets a column named by its path, so an address object with a city becomes an address.city column. Arrays become numbered columns such as tags.0.
How do I keep accents correct when Excel opens the CSV?
Tick Add UTF-8 BOM before converting; the byte-order mark tells Excel the file is UTF-8.
Can I turn the CSV back into nested JSON?
Yes. The CSV to JSON page rebuilds nested objects from the dot-path column names.
