Questions
Why are two discounts not the same as adding them?
Each discount applies to the price left after the previous one. $120 with 30% off is $84, and another 10% off that is $75.60: a 37% total discount, not 40%.
How is tax removed from a price that already includes it?
Choose Remove tax from a gross price: net = gross ÷ (1 + rate), and the tax is the difference. Amounts are rounded half away from zero to the cent where they are calculated, like a till receipt.
Can each person's share be rounded up?
Yes. Turn on rounding and each share is rounded up to a whole currency unit; the tool shows the resulting total and the effective tip percentage. Otherwise any leftover cent goes to the first people.
