Supported formats and limits
| Input | Reference details you supply |
|---|---|
| Output | Formatted references (rich text and plain), BibTeX |

Limitations
- Details are not looked up; the formatter uses exactly what you enter.
- Check your institution's style guide for local variations.
Questions
Does it look up the source for me?
No. The formatter uses exactly the details you type; it does not search the web or databases. Missing or wrong details stay missing or wrong, so check them against the source.
How are author names handled?
Names are parsed into family and given names, including particles (such as van or de), suffixes, initials and organisations. APA puts & before the last author and uses an ellipsis for 21 or more authors.
Will the result match my style guide exactly?
The rules follow published APA 7, MLA 9 and Chicago author-date examples, but institutions and journals often add local variations. Compare the result with the guide you are asked to follow.
